It's hard, no matter what. Fast or slow, no matter how well you've braced yourself, you're never really *ready* for the blow. If we're going to love, we have to expect the pain sooner or later. That's why friends are so necessary. We buffer each other. I hope.

I just can't imagine what I would do. Another blogger watched her husband each day before he died and it is still hard for her. So I don't really think one is prepared either.

My deepest sympathies to Wilma. I lost my husband quickly like that, too. It's an awful shock. I pray that her family and friends support her in the coming months. The first year is the hardest, but it takes time. I was still bruised and sensitive for quite a while. What it took for me was a change of focus for my life, but I couldn't engineer it; it needed to come naturally.
