Mage, my heartfelt sympathies for the Charger heartbreak. I remember all too well the Year of the Tuck Rule, when the Patriots took out my Raiders in a similar heartbreaker in the snow.

My bread machine has a "dough" setting. You dump in all the stuff, and it does the kneading and the rising for you, then beeps at you to let you know it's time to plop it in a pan and bake. Best of both worlds!
